Chris Havlin is a research scientist in University of Illinois' Data Exploration Lab working on open source tools for data visualization and analysis across physical science domains. Chris earned his Ph.D. in Geological Sciences studying theoretical geodynamics and magma migration at Brown University, after which he spent some time continuing research at Columbia University’s Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory while dabbling in freelance data science consulting before joining the Data Exploration Lab.

Chris is also a photography lover, outdoors enthusiast and occasional updater of this site.
